As part of the «Complete Person» concept, Zhangir Khan University hosted an educational meeting titled «An Outstanding Figure Who Revitalized the Zhaiyk Region» to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of prominent statesman Mustakhim Iksanov.
The event, organized at the Industrial and Technological Institute, was attended by invited guests, students, and faculty members. The meeting was moderated by Alzhan Shamshidin, Vice-Rector for Research of the University.
The educational meeting was attended by Nurdilda Oraz, Head of the Office of the Akim of West Kazakhstan Region, Kuanyshbai Tolebayev, a labor veteran and Chairman of the «Zerde-Pamyat» Public Foundation, Askar Atayev, Chairman of the M. Iksanov Foundation, Medkhat Kambetov, Acting Head of the Department of Culture, Language Development and Archives of West Kazakhstan Region and Professor Marat Onayev.
The guests spoke about the statesman’s contribution to the development of the region and shared historical facts and memories about his life and work.
– Mustakhim Iksanov’s career was not limited to a single region. He worked in several regions of Kazakhstan and contributed to the socioeconomic development of each one. In 1963, he was appointed First Secretary of the Kyzylorda Regional Party Committee. At that time, the development of rice farming, the expansion of irrigated land, and the strengthening of the material and technical base of agriculture were important issues for the Syr region, – said Nurdilda Oraz, Head of the Office of the Akim of West Kazakhstan Region.
During the meeting, participants spoke about Mustakhim Bilaluly’s contribution to the establishment and development of the University, as well as his commitment to creating favorable conditions for students. The educational event provided an opportunity to introduce young people to the exemplary life and rich legacy of a person who made a significant contribution to the country’s development.
It should be noted that, in addition to revitalizing the Ak Zhaiyk region, the statesman made a major contribution to the establishment and development of Zhangir Khan West Kazakhstan Agrarian and Technical University, which was then known as the Agricultural Institute. To provide young people from the western regions of Kazakhstan with suitable conditions for pursuing their education without concern, a student campus was built on the outskirts of the city. He personally supervised the construction process and brought specialists from Moscow to build an 800-seat assembly hall for students.
In 2016, a lecture hall named after Mustakhim Iksanov was opened at the University, and a scholarship bearing his name was established. The first recipient of the scholarship was Zhalgas Uzakbayev, a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
He also worked productively in the public administration system for many years and made an exceptional contribution to the socioeconomic development of the republic and the region. Under his leadership, large-scale projects aimed at benefiting the country were implemented, giving impetus to the development of industry, agriculture, construction, education, and social infrastructure.
